Promoting Hong Kong science event

Empica is providing support for a new world-class scientific exchange in Hong Kong that will bring together distinguished scientists with young people from across the world.

Judith Skorupski who heads our London satellite office is heading out to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for the first Hong Kong Laureate Forum (HKLF).

She will be supporting Hong Kong agency Memo Plus PR as they welcome participants including more than 20 Shaw Prize science laureates and 200 young delegates from 30 countries.

The $1.2m Shaw Prize has produced more than 100 laureates since its launch in 2002, with many winners going on to receive other top honours, including 16 Nobel Prize awardees.

“The event has attracted some of the top minds in science and is set to put Hong Kong on the map as a major centre for international scientific discussion,” said Judith.

“The theme of the conference is the ‘Meeting of Inspirational Minds’ and gathers eminent scientists from astronomy, life science and medicine, and mathematical sciences.”

Highlights of the forum include plenary sessions with Shaw laureates, British astrologer Michael Perryman, Nobel Prize for physics 2020 winner Reinhard Genzel, and biophysicist Eva Nogales.

“For the selected young scientists, it will be an opportunity to talk to the masters in their field, seek their advice and tap into their wealth of knowledge.”

The event will take place at Hong Kong Science Park, with visits to the world’s leading hub for research and development, InnoHK, and to Hong Kong Cyberport.

It has been organised by the HKLF and supported by the HKSAR Government, with sponsors including Cathay Pacific, and MTR Corporation and runs from November 13-18.
