A taste of work at Empica

I recently had the pleasure of working with Empica for three weeks as part of an industrial placement unit for my course at the University of Bristol. It was an incredible experience being within a company known for its commitment to excellence and its dedication to creating a positive representation of its clients.

During my time at Empica, I learned so much about the importance of representation online. It was a real eye-opener for me to see how this can shape the narrative around an individual or company. I was able to see first-hand how Empica work tirelessly to ensure their clients are represented accurately. I had always known that working in PR would involve dealing with clients, but I had never realised just how much time and effort it takes to maintain a healthy, professional relationship with them. The team is incredibly skilled at managing client relationships, and I learned a lot from watching them in action.

Perhaps the most exciting part of my experience with Empica was taking on projects independently. I was given the opportunity to lead a project on the world’s first “test tube baby”, Louise Brown, and it was an incredible feeling to watch this project become a professional piece of work. Through the support and guidance of the resident videographer, Grace Fox, they made a huge impact on the quality of work I intended to produce. The team at Empica was always there to offer guidance when I needed it, but I was given the freedom to work on the projects in my own way. It was a valuable learning experience that taught me a lot about communication and the importance of attention to detail.

Overall, my time at Empica was incredibly worthwhile. I learned a lot about the industry, and I gained valuable hands-on experience that I know will serve me well in my future career. If you are contemplating a career in the media, I would highly recommend reaching out to Empica for work experience as they will offer a unique experience through the PR side of the industry. Their commitment to creating a positive work environment for their employees reflects onto their clients which made for a really enjoyable three-weeks, I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work for them.
