About Neil

Neil Fraser MCIPR is a PR Manager at Empica specialising in professional services PR, business-to-business communications and strategic media relations.

With more than 30 years’ experience spanning journalism, agency PR and consultancy, Neil supports organisations in the legal, financial, property, education and recruitment sectors with reputation management, media strategy and content-led communications campaigns.

His background as both a senior journalist and communications consultant gives him a strong understanding of how to position complex or specialist organisations clearly and effectively for media, stakeholders and target audiences.

Career Background

Neil began his career in journalism after completing a degree in History and qualifying through the National Council for the Training of Journalists.

He worked at major regional newspapers including the Bristol Evening Post and Plymouth Evening Herald, progressing through a variety of editorial roles including political editor, business editor and news editor.

During his journalism career he covered major national and regional stories including the Lyme Bay canoe tragedy, the Southall rail crash and the launch of the replica of John Cabot’s ship The Matthew. He also interviewed a wide range of public figures across politics, sport and entertainment.

Neil later moved into public relations, working within two major B2B communications agencies in Bristol before becoming a director at one of them. He then established and ran his own consultancy, Inform Media, advising clients across legal, accountancy, education, care and recruitment sectors before joining Empica in 2018.

Professional Services & B2B Communications

Neil has particular expertise in professional services and business-to-business communications, helping organisations communicate complex expertise in a clear, accessible and commercially effective way.

His experience spans legal firms, accountancy practices, financial services businesses, commercial property organisations and consultancy-led businesses where reputation, trust and credibility are central to commercial success.

He works closely with clients to identify strong media opportunities, develop strategic messaging and build long-term visibility through targeted communications activity.

Journalism, Media Relations & Strategic Content

Neil’s journalism background continues to shape his communications approach, particularly in media relations, storytelling and strategic content development.

Having worked within busy newsroom environments and covered major breaking stories, he understands what makes organisations and individuals genuinely newsworthy and how to communicate effectively under pressure.

His work combines strategic consultancy with practical communications delivery, helping clients secure meaningful coverage while strengthening their broader reputation and market positioning.
