Empica on the road

Empica on the road

Simon racked up a few miles last week travelling to Stroud for the launch of the new Unit2 rehearsal and recording studio. Julian Capewell from Bruton Knowles let the commercial premises on the Salmon Springs business park to musician, sound engineer and entrepreneur Cam McMillan – who has worked miracles turning the former furniture showroom into a state-of-the-art studio complete with floating drum room, recording space and stage. Simon took wannabe guitarist son Jordan and former bandmate Mike Marsh to the launch, but rumours of a Malicious Gossip reunion – although widely anticipated by hardcore New Wave fans all over South Bristol – are said to be unfounded at this time!

Next day he was back on the road for the Three Counties Show at Great Malvern where he joined Chris Eldridge and Sam Pennington on the Bruton Knowles stand encouraging hundreds of visiting farmers to guess the weight of the tractor. Highspot of the day was the display by the incredible Devil’s Horsemen followed by a remarkable X marks the spot high-speed descent by members of the Parachute Regiment Red Devils’ display team bearing an enormous Bruton Knowles banner – which brought new meaning to the expression ‘Follow That!’
